About Dinner Ideas
A global recipe journal: one kitchen, 193 countries, and a simple promise — every dish we publish has been cooked, tasted and written down so you can cook it with confidence.
Our mission
Dinner Ideas exists to answer the same question, every evening, in every country: what should we cook tonight? Instead of one more list of the same ten recipes, we built Dinner Ideas — a single atlas of the world's kitchens, organised by country, region, meal and category. Every one of the 193 countries recognised by the United Nations has its own page, with its signature dish, its flavours, and its story. We are adding full recipes country by country, until the whole atlas is cookable.
How every recipe is tested
- Real ingredients, measured twice. Quantities are listed in US cups and metric grams side by side, so the dish works in any kitchen. Substitutes are listed for anything hard to find.
- Cooked the way the dish is actually made. We follow the traditional method — pan, pot, grill or oven — and note the time and temperature at every step, plus the signs that tell you the dish is done.
- Checked for balance. Each recipe includes nutrition per serving and per 100 g, who should enjoy it and who should be careful, and which foods pair well — and which do not.
- Reviewed before publishing. A recipe goes live only after its ingredients, steps, times and nutrition have been checked against the source tradition. We correct mistakes openly when readers spot them — see our contact page.
What you will find here
- Recipes by country — from Vietnamese phở to Italian ragù, Thai pad kra pao to Moroccan tagine. Browse the full atlas on the Countries page.
- Recipes by meal — breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, each with its time window, so you can plan the day around real meals.
- Food pairing guidance — what to eat with each dish, and what not to combine, with the reason explained in plain language.
- Nutrition and health notes — per-serving and per-100 g nutrition, plus guidance for children, pregnancy, athletes and common conditions. These are general information, not medical advice.
Who makes Dinner Ideas
Dinner Ideas is a small editorial team of cooks, writers and food researchers. We cook the dishes we publish, we read the food history behind them, and we answer reader messages ourselves. If a dish from your country is missing or wrong, tell us — that is how the atlas grows.
